Attorneys Database is an independent directory of lawyers and law firms in the United States. We do not take referral fees, sell leads or pass your details to law firms.

Basic and Verified listings

Listing is free: every firm can have a Basic listing. Paid Verified listings are coming soon. Before we add the Verified label we check the lead attorney’s license on the state bar website and the firm confirms every fact on the listing. Verified listings are always labeled and appear above Basic listings in city and practice-area lists.

Paying will never buy a rating, a review or a change to the facts, and we will never hide a correct Basic listing because another firm paid. See listing plans.

This site is not a law firm and does not give legal advice. Listing an attorney, Basic or Verified, is not a recommendation.

Where listings come from

• State bar member records, which show where an attorney is admitted, their bar number and the year they were first licensed.
• The law firm’s own website, for practice areas, office hours, languages and fee arrangements the firm publishes.
• Updates sent by attorneys and their staff through the add your business form.

We never publish reviews, ratings, case results or fees a firm has not published itself. When we do not know something, the listing says “Not known”.

How listings are checked

Every listing shows the date its facts were last checked, against the state bar record or with the firm. That date appears on Basic listings too; once Verified listings launch, the Verified label will mean the firm also paid for the license check and confirmation. Before you hire anyone, check their current standing on the state bar’s own website.

Firms that close are marked closed and removed from lists.

Corrections

If something is wrong, use the “Is this your business? Update it” link on the listing, or the add your business form.
